Hey is this a Jacobs 26 or 35? It is local and I might be able to get a good deal on it. I have never owned a Jacobs, so I don't know much about them. It is missing the drum. Are drums hard to find? What would one sell for without a drum? He also has this Texaco sign and pole.

Drums for the Jacob's are very very hard to find. Other than the capacity difference 26 versus 35. the main difference is in the front mech the 26 has an upright skinny handle and the 35 has a vendo like handle and the coin entry is also different.

If I am correct there is a difference in the evaporator on the 26 and the 35. Yours looks to me like a 35. If I remember correctly the 26 always had the smaller evaporator and the 35 had the larger long skinny evaporator like yours. Here is the inside of a 26 that I had a while back.

I've got a nice Jacobs 26 without the drum that I've been searching for a drum for coming up on 8 years now, with no luck. I got outbid once on a rusted out machine with good insides, but that's as close as I've come. Oh, yea, I paid WAY too much for mine as well...$800...this was long before I found this site and everyone's good advice!

I guess I'm trying to decide if it is worth buying without a drum. Looks like drums don't come along to often. Yea, the Texaco sign and pole are cool. VINTAGE! I don't think the wife would let me put that in the yard though.

I have seen a few drums for sale on ebay. Just a few years ago I sold a nice solid original 100% complete and cooling and could only get $800 for it. It had a big dent in it but would have been easy to pull.

Hey Pat, I'd be interested in 1 of those Jacobs. That 1 for $350, if I were you, I'd scoop it. I'm gonna check with a buddy of mine, I think he re-popped the drums a few years ago

I'll check with my buddy this afternoon. If he hasn't got any, I'll take the one out of mine and have some made. I have a great fab guy. He made me a few for the table top coolers before ( industrial Carton)

Do you have a picture of the front (actually side) of the machine. looks like it may be missing more than just the drum. Does it have the coin mech cover, cap catcher, rejector, mounting plate? I have some spare parts except for the rejector for sale.

I would say that 4 out of every 5 Jacobs I have seen for sale are missing the drums, but they are also missing the drum support shaft and that complex ratcheting mechanism. So fabricating just the drum might only be a start. As cool as the body looks, I have found them hard to sell because of the non-embossed letters and single vend function. Maybe that is why V-39's have reproduction parts but not 26's?

The Texaco pole is worth around $1,200 its called a Banjo Pole. I just sold a Phillips 66 sign with its original pole.

That is a Jacobs 144 and the drum is probably twice as wide as a 26/35. And at 600# you had better be sure you can use some of it's parts before you buy it.

If it was local for $50.00 I would buy it. Parts are parts but I also have the space for storage so there is no issue there for me.

I spend more then fifty dollars on a meal for me and the wife. Buy and save it. You never know what the future might hold.
But it sure does look to be one big machine.

Those are huge machines,,, hope you have room to store it.. I wouldn't think anything is exchangeable except for coin mech, and maybe coin door if available (didnt' see in photo)..
I had seen one wher a guy made it into a small phone booth, he could actally sit in it and use the phone... they are HUGE..
