"general" circa 1940's or 1950's

I have recently acquired a soda machine that I am estimating was built in the 40's or 50's or possibly sooner. All I can find is the name on the front of the machine is "General". It still works as a cooler, but the inside mechanisms have all been ripped out. It is currently a light green color and I believe this is the original color. It has a top open lid and I think the coin mechanism are gone as well. I am looking to restore this machine to its original condition if possible. Can anyone shed some light on this type of machine???
