I have a Vendo 39 with a UB-5 Westinghouse compressor. I am looking for a control unit or parts for the control unit. Here are some pictures of the control unit and relay.
If this looks familiar to anyone let me know and I can post more pictures.

You have the same thermostat (control unit) as I have in my Vendo 39 (dated May 1950). Mine works well, except that when the spring is released to break contact, mine doesn't break contact, so it keeps running. There is a washer that has come loose from the arm that raises up, and that maintains the circuit. Not too hard to fix. Does yours have a similar issue, or is it not working altogether?

wampdawg,
I appreciate your help!!! That is not quite what I am looking for but I am going to look around at that site. I feel you can't have enough parts suppliers.
To everyone:
If any one is familiar with this control please drop me a line. It is last part I need for my Vendo-39. Thanks!!!

If you find what you need, let me know where you found it. I may be getting a V-39 myself.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to pose my quiestion here for continuity purposes.
I have a 1950 (April 21, 1950 to be exact) Vendo 39 that has this same set up. My machine seems to be cooling okay. However, it's not a cold as I wish it was.
I know the temp adustment is on the 'box' in the photo... I just need to know.. Clockwise or Counter Clockwise to decress temp?
Thanks!!!!

I looked briefly and didn't find any info on that model control unit. I would bet it is clockwise. Take it slow like 1/2 turn and see what it does, then another half turn and so on... Good Luck!

Yes... the clockwise seems to do the trick. I've gone about 3/4 a turn and have seen a good amount of improvement. I will test again tomorrow and if same will drop it a bit more.
These little coke bottles gotta be cold!

Turn it until it turns off when running and you went the wrong way. Be sure and mark it before you start so you can go back.

Nice machine!, I noticed in your pics that the compressor looks to be original & correct for an early model, but your evaporator is the late model style ( squared coils/fins & blowing backwards & up / VS round coils & blowing straight up) sheeze ..only I'd notice something like this .. I've been doing way too many V39 Decks lately...

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

Johnie,
Don't feel too bad. I am cleaning up an early 39 and I noticed this one was different as well. I did not, however, know that the evaporator in this machine was typical of later models. Thanks for pointing that fact out. Its those little tidbits that I find interesting and eduactional. So I learned something new today, think reading this site can qualify for Continuing Education credits?
