Marsh,
Yep, Eric (Joesquid - What happened to him anyway? Still at sea??) did the paint test. Rustoleum Hammertone won hands down.

Jasmine, Hammertone holds up very well on shelves. I use it as well. I have machines that were sprayed 10+ years ago and still look new. It's all in the prep work. I media blast everything prior to paint.

I have never media blasted just a good soak in soap and water then use a scotchbrite pad let them dry and shoot them. They hold up great.

I've used a electric sander on the flat areas and hand sanded in those tight area's and Hammertoned everything , even the tank. Pat

Yep Hammertone is great stuff. It looks great and holds up well. On this 7up machine I even used hammertone on the green bottle stack and it looked great.

How does Hammertone compare to powdercoating? Been deciding whether I want to powdercoat my Ideal 55 slider bottle rack. What are the pros and cons of powdercoating and Hammertone besides the high (?) cost for powdercoating? I'm concerned about the bottle rack getting all scratched up after a while from the bottles sliding around in the racks.

I have found that they are about the same as far as durability. However if I were you just try the hammertone first. The rack is easily removed so if the hammertone scratches just send it off to be powder coated. In the end you are only out a $10 can of hammertone. In my opinion if hammertone stands up to bottles constantly rolling over them on a shelf the result will be the same for a slider rack.

Hopefully Joesquid will be back.
