Westinghouse WE-6

I am looking at a "restored" Westinghouse WE-6. Asking price is $600. The owner claims that it is in good working order and condition and that it is a restored machine. I am waiting for some more pictures at this point but have posted what I have.
A few questions:
1. What is a machine like this worth assuming the condition is good?
2. What are the most likely problems with this type of machine? If these problems arise, are the parts or retrofit parts still available? The machine looks clean but that compressor looks a bit old!
3. Does anyone notice anything missing?
Not sure if I will get "war department" clearance but I figured I better collect my intell in advance!
Thanks!
Tim

Hello Tim,
That is not much of a restoration with overspray everywhere. $600 is too high.
I would say 400 tops for a quality restoration. Hard to restore one for that though.
They are a water bath system which does not appeal to most folks. Problems can be leaks and the circulating motor going bad. Seems like JohnnieG found a Grangiers motor that will work. Eric at Global Compressor has a conversion kit to change them to dry cool.
I've been looking for parts for mine for 5 years. You are missing the back cover. If you are set on a WE-6 I'd find a clean orginal and convert it to dry cool. They turn up on eBay now and again but not worth paying shipping on.
Hope this helps,
Creighton

It's a little tought to tell from the angle of these photos, but is there a cover missing over the circulating motor? I thought these had a glass cover so you could see the water action.

Creighton,
What parts are you still missing?

Tom,
All the guts. Don't want to hijack Tims thread, but all I really want is the Ice Cold medallian and a cap catcher. Way down on the priority list :-)
