Does anyone know if there is a standard bulb wattage for these units? Mine is a 1971 Cornelius. I can't read the writing on the bulb, all is see is USA. I got a similar one at Auto Zone and it popped the second I put it in. Thanks, Mark

You should probably be looking at bulb voltage... autozone bulbs are probably 12v, your machine probably wants to pu 120v through it.

K, volts then! I found one at an electronics store that looked similar and was 120 volts. Didn't buy it, wanted to ask you guys first.

and it popped the second I put it in.
This is the result of a bad ballast.

So, you guys think it'd be ok to just get one from a Radio shack that looks similar but is 120 volts?

I doubt it is a 12v bulb. That is why it popped. If it is like the auto push and twist socket. Then they do make 110v bulbs for those. Not sure what size or watt you need.
Later,
Josh

Oh a fillament lamp does not use a ballast.
If you have too much trouble finding a bulb, it may be easier to replace the socket so you can use the screw-in type.

I had the EXACT same experience (I bought a similar bulb from an auto store and POP!) with my 7up Selectivend 1B. I'm new to classic vending (or vending in general), but I would assume this bulb would be common in these circles. So nobody has any info on it? I'd like to keep it as original as possible and not go to screw type.

That bulb is a 120v bulb and it is the same bulb as a sewing machine bulb so take a trip to your local crafts store and buy a sewing machine bulb

I got one, a Singer brand and it works perfectly, but it is too long. It's huge. It's so long that it butts up against the end of that metal box and the box gets hot within a few minutes. That's not safe. I have looked at all the local sewing machine shops and they are all the same size that have the bayonet style push in. I would order one smaller, but to be honest I don't know what to Google other than 120volt sewing machine bulb and that just comes up with the huge ones like I've already found. Any ideas?

Hey THANKS!!! You think that'll work? Will it pop/blow like the first replacement I had did? This one LOOKS like the original one. I dont' want to do any damage to the wiring of the machine..that pop/blow thing is wild.. One of the contacts came off of the bulb and stayed on the receptacle when I removed it. I have to remove that still.

This ones the right one for line voltage/120 volts AC, (it only looks like a 12 volt auto tail-lamp bulb!)

Ok, I found the bulb at Sears, it fit perfectly...was a Kenmore brand it is 120 bolts 15 watts..but like the other bulb it gets very hot. very...the metal box is hot to the touch after 2 hours or so and this bulb is smaller and not touching. 120 volts..is it supposed to be 15 watts? That one above is 6 watts and 120 volts. I guess that's it for sure then. I was trying to find one local. That one charges 8.00 shipping for 1 or 1000 bulbs, flat rate. I guess I'll order 5 or 6. just in case. I don't like ordering and not knowing FOR SURE that's it, but so far, it looks like it'll be the one. If DC means double contact, then that looks like the one. Thanks for posting it! Mark

The bulbs came in today. Fit perfect and work perfect. FINALLY! Thanks for the link. I was gettin tired of chasing bulbs. It's nice to finish something. Now I just have to get the burned off contacts from the wrong size bulb that "popped" and left the contacts on the bulb connector. Mark
