There must be a real story behind this.

The fact that it has a Glasscock CC ID plate is weird.
I have never heard of Glasscock doing anything for any bottler other than CC, but I could be wrong.
The signs look too nice to be 80 years old - my guess is that it is a 'made-to-look original' fantasy piece.
I wouldn't pay that amount for it regardless.

I think the tag looks too large for the cooler. It is as if someone took a full size tag and put it on a smaller cooler.

That is interesting I've got to go with Jim I would also like to know the
history of this cooler.
I don't know about a fantasy cooler, The inside of the lid being stamped?

Hhhmmm.... about 12+- years ago I went to the annual Gypsy Caravan Swap meet
in St. Louis.... A man had about 20 of these.... they were new He had Coke, Pepsi
and Dr Pepper. Nice but he wanted around $250 each... Heck with what this
one is bringing I should have bought them all.....
I would think the signs would be embossed... the larger REAL Dr Pepper's are just like any other Salesman sample coolers are... if this was the real deal..
Now I'm not saying it's not real... well... I think it's real... just not 1930's/40s real.
wow.....

Curious indeed! Sold at 5 large plus. Insane money. Salesman samples are few and far between though. I doubt Glasscock would spend time and money to "scale" an ID tag for the samples. Looks real to me.

If it was real you would think they would have used real Dr Pepper green and not that blue.. but maybe that's just my computer....
I'd like to see a real Coca-Cola salesman sample next to it... this one just just looks off...
I went and looked at a real Dr Pepper cooler of this style and it wasn't painted like this at all (well what paint was left mostly rust) and all the panels were embossed the box was deeper
and the green was darker.... Would think the samples would be painted like the real deal...

Good point's Eric,
I just hope for the guy that purchased it is real. Suspect will see more "Salesman Samples" on eBay real soon.

faded but different Could be the Coke Green but it's there.
