Hey all, How do you put extra spring tension in a bottle door spring? I'm working on a Cavalier USS 64 and the bottle door needs a little more tension to close it. Thanks rz

Hey Roger Are the hinges real loss. I would think they should just snap shut.

Hey Pat, No they are not real loose. They snap shut when the door is off but when I mount the door it doesn't want to close firmly. Do I just have to replace them?

When I took the door back off I did move the hinges out because they seemed to be in too far. I'll try putting the door back on since you brought it up, maybe that was holding it up. Thanks rz

If they are really loose you may be able to wind them one more time. It is hard though and if you wind then too much they distort.

Josh is right you could do that and it is very tough do do. If moving the hinges does not work give this a try myself I would go the site and plead with every one here to get a set of hinges.

Re-winding the spring is easier if the two plates are screwed into wood, freeing your hands to wind the spring and push in the pin.

Would make a great addition to the 'Tips and Tutorials' section!

Glen,
Do you have a photo of this concept as I'd like to include this in the Tutorials Section as mentioned by Tom...?

Thanks all I found one spring was real lazy so I used on off of another door. Then the other spring seemed kinda lazy so I put another round in it. It did distort a little but looks and works okay. Thanks for the advice
