Only quarters pass through

I have the vending unit set for 5 cents. And that part seems to work. But it seems there must be some kind of weight issue. Only quarters go through and vend product. Change is properly returned in nickels.
Other change doesn't seem like it goes through.
Any ideas?

Uh a little help...what machine & changer are we talking about? do you mean it rejects dimes & nickles into the coin return cup, or that it takes them & puts them into the coin box but then doesn't vend?

Ohh it's a Cavalier CSS-8-64
Pictures speak louder than... So I have examples of where the coins stick up on
www.reuben.net/coin/coin.html
Click on the pictures to see larger shots.
The first one shows the whole unit, the 2nd shows a stuck nickel , the third a stuck dime, and the fourth an overhead shot with the top feeder (my terms are wrong, I know) removed looking down at the stuck coins. I remove the coins and it happens all over again

Rueben, a good cleaning usually allways works. Remove the slug rejector and throw it in a bucket of hot water and detergent. Let it soak for a while, then begin cleaning all coin paths with a small scrub brush, rinse and dry with a hair dryer. Make sure all levers and rockers are moving freely.
Now hold it perfectly verticle above a table and test coins.
Each coin has a different path. If one still sticks, disassemble and clean as necessary.
DO NOT soak the coin mech. Disassemble and clean as necessary.
Don't wory too much about ruining it,they are relatively in-expensive to replace. Glen

I agree with a good clean of the slug. However what I had luck with is putting it in the dishwasher and running a quick cycle and then lube it with dry graphite. Also you may have a bad .05/.10 crem.
