Compressor won't shut off
«

I just picked up a Vendo VF-63 Queen Anne and had the compressor serviced. It gets cold but never wants to shut off the compressor. The repair guy replaced the thermostat, but I'm seeing the same problem. It just runs and runs and runs... There is some ice that is starting to form on one of the copper lines.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds like your T-stat is not wired correctly.

Agree. put the sensor end in a glass of ice water. If that doesn't shut it off then the tstat is toast or not corrected properly.
Btw - welcome. Please post some pics of your machine. Where did you get it and what did you pay?

Is the ice forming on the right side of the upper evaporator coil, on the down tube, where the small cap tube joins? If so, it's not the thermostat, the machine is either undercharged, or has a leak. If the evaporator is not getting full saturation, i.e. low charge, the unit won't get full BTU benefit, running all the time.
The other thing, do you have a thermometer inside where you can read the temperature, leaving the main door closed? Read the temp. through the vend door glass? If so, what's the temp? This helps in whether or not your box is
even reaching temperature
, say 35 or so.

Eric,
You were right on the money. The ice was forming on the down tube and on the small cap tube as well. When the repairman saw this, he said it must be a little low on refrigerant. He added some, and we're much better now.
Thanks for your help guys.

Bryan,
To answer your question, I spent $800 on it, then another $200 getting it working. All the refrigerant had leaked out and the coin changer was bad.
It was in Texas.

Scot, congrats on getting your Queen Anne DP working. Let's see some pic's when you get a chance.
