I have a Westinghouse WC-78-MD. The top solenoid(for correct change) is intermittent and there is a resistor at the top of the changer box that seems like it's getting too hot and cutting out. Could something else be causing the resistor to get hot? What does the resistor do? Does anyone have a wiring schematic? Thanks

Can you show me a picture or the resister as it sits in the machine/changer area? if it's about 2-1/2" long & usally wrapped in a metal jacket with wires that run right into the door,it's powered by 115Volt A.C. & mounts just above the coin entry area, it's probably just the coin mech warmer, they used to put these in some older machines to help keep out water & icing of the coin mech for machines in outdoor locations and yes they do get quite warm but they have no function other than stated and for use indoors are just a power drain. do you mean that the "correct change only" flags
solinoid is intermittent?
