Good Afternoon,
Just trying to gather more info for the restoration of my 3rd machine. Its a vendo 63A, and its cooling system is all original, fiers-up and cools perfectly. I have the machine completly broken down and will be starting on the cooling system first. Any advise on how to make this thing look new again without spending an arm and a leg. what parts should be sandblasted, evaporator, condensor, pump?? How and color should be used on the evaporator, what new electical parts should be replaced??? Can anyone share there story of how they do it??
Thanks guys, I will post pics of all my machines as soon as they are complete.

1refrescofan,
Remove the base plate and sandblast it. The rest of the unit normally cleans up for paint by steam cleaning, wire brush and SOS pads. I paint the base plate, comp. and condenser unit (bottom) black. I paint the evap unit (top) with silver hammertone. I would also replace the wiring harness and fan motors. I bead blast the fan blades and paint them silver. Hope this helps.

Restoring a compressor deck is a pretty satisfying experience. After you get it all cleaned up and painted, it'll look super-sweet. The contrast between the shiny black paint on the compressor and condensor contrast really well with bright freshly polished copper tubing and a new wiring harness.

If I'm painting the machine, I paint the baseplate the same color. Also, when installing a new wiring harness......mounting the junction box behind the compressor hides the "birds nest", and the system looks clean and simple when done.

I also have done a few in silver hammertone. It looks great up against a fresh restoration.
