Howdy all,
Thanks to everyone on this site.  There is so much info here it's hard to take it all in.
I have a question about coinco changers for all you guys.  I have a Cavalier 72 and a vendo 80 that have a similar "problem".  Well, it's not really a problem so much as an annoyance.  Both of the coinco mechanisms buzz constantly until you deposit your dime, then are perfectly quiet.  I believe the buzz comes from the solenoid that rejects coins when it is vending or when the power is off.  Is there any way to stop the buzzing?  Perhaps a filter for the AC or something else?

Well, here's the buzz (bad pun  '<img'> ) , Yep, it's the Coin-Reject-ElectoMagnets, (C.R.E.M.S for short) that is causing the buzzing, they go quite (turn off) when you deposit your cash when the vending price is reached, so as to reject any additional coins ( so you don't over-pay) & reset (turn back on) when the vending cycle is complete, the fix? well you can try to shim the relays armature (the square thing with the little fingers that moves up & down) at the point where the top of the spring clip is pushing down on the top of the armature, see attached diagram, you can try to either adjust the spring-clip, but most people end up busting the top off of the CREM, or you can try to shim-it, & make sure there isn't any crud between the armature & the magnets metal post.

Thanks for the help Johnie.  I looked into the mechanisms and found that one of them is a much older variety of coinco and the other is just as you described.  The older one had all metal electromagnets and long wire fingers from them into the coin slot.  It also has a much different style of coin counter as well that is not solid state and only goes up to 25 cents.  With each five cents inserted there is a solenoid that turns a cam one click toward it's preset price then once reached it cycles back to it's starting position.  I finally figured out that the buzzing was coming from the area where the long wire finger was riveted to the electromagnet.  I put a couple of drops of five minute epoxy on the rivets and finger and it stopped the noise completely with so far no bad side effects.  Ah sweet silence.  I'm going to tackle the more modern one tomorrow maybe.  Thanks!
