Vmc 27 handle release

my table top, split door, vendolator 27 coin mechanism seems to allow the nickle to flow through and land in the handle "contraption"
but it won't release the handle so that it can be turned. what's up with that?

Lisa,
Does your drum rotate smoothly while the cabinet door is open...?
With the cabinet door open, can you deposit the appropriate money and then rotate the crank handle...?

OR, maybe you're not putting in enough money Lisa. If it's been set to 10 cents it needs 2 nickles or 1 dime to allow the coin(s) to lift the rocker arm, which allows the handle to turn.
Drop your coin in again and see why it is not lifting this rocker arm.

cool! that was it. I deposited a dime and it worked beautifully! If I want to set it for 5 cents, what do I do?

Hi Lisa,
Unfortunately, you HAVE a ten cent mech. There was no adjustment to change pricing. The ten cent mech replaced the five cent mech and that was the adjustment. It could probably be modified, but you would be better off trying to find a five cent mech. It is the same mech used in the VMC27, VMC27A and the VMC33. If you can find one, they are very easy to switch out - 5 screws.

Or just superglue a nickle into one of the nickle slots of the vending release disk.
, wa-la now it's a nickle machine!

Well - I am sure that would work, but it is not how I would do it. In order to preserve the option of easily converting it back to ten cents, treat it like a VMC 139 or 149 mech with a nickel size washer and a set screw in the coin drum. Either way you want to do it, you are going to have to adjust the dime deflector and separator on the rejector so dimes are rejected. The ten cent mech utilizes a single coin dog (unlike the nickel/dime mech that has two dogs) so a dime or two nickels could be used to purchase the soda. If you plug up one of the nickel slots, then you also need to adjust the dime acceptance or it will work on a single nickel or a dime. You can't plug the dime slot also or it will be just like free vend.
My five cents (or is it ten cents)!
