I just "stumbled" onto this site". My model 27a looks like the picture posted on this site as a 27B. Am I confused, or does my machine have the wrong metal plate on it? The serial number is a very plain 646. This machine has been repainted, by the dist. I assume. It is now a solid coke red. without the white top. I have had it since 1970 in a vac. home to cool small beer bottles. Unplugged since 1996, but run several times since. I think it only needs a new power cord, some tinkering and lubrication to be back in business. Some rust but not that bad. This would be a perfect resto. job. Does anyone have ANY idea what this little jewel is worth?

JOH,
What you have is the first version of the Dual 27, a 27A! Just like the one pictured under the model VMC 27B. VMC left the "A" for some reason and then shortly after changed the model to the "B" which actaully has a solid door as opposed to the "split door". Another note is the VMC Logo in the upper left corner of the cabinet door.
As for a value, I'll assume everything is functioning properly and the machine is complete, not missing any parts... In average to above-average condition, I would say between $1000 - $1200. Maybe, a little more for the one you have with a low serial number...

My six cents,
